Track Bike
A track bike operates with a fixed wheel (no freewheel mechanism). These bikes are built exclusively for high-speed racing around purpose-built velodromes. Due to the short length of most track racing events, comfort is not important and geometry is extreme, often with the saddle much higher than the deep-drop handlebars.
Although it might sound counter-intuitive, track bikes do not have brakes for safety. On closed circuit tracks where racers are incredibly close together at high velocity, a single rider braking would more often than not end in catastrophe.
