Audax Bike

Audax events are similar to sportives, but are often slower-paced and cover much greater distances (200km+) without support or signposting. Audax is a non-competitive sport and the aim is to reach course checkpoints within an allotted time slot.

Because the events are entirely unsupported, Audax bikes are usually built from more durable materials (steel or titanium rather than aluminium or carbon fibre), with more robust componentary and featuring light load-carrying capabilities. Up until recently mudguards were also required; however this rule has now been withdrawn.

The geometry of an Audax bike is usually similar to that of a sportive frame, and they are often described and used as "light tourers".
