All-Road / Gravel Road Bike
This is a genre of bicycle that didn't really exist five years ago. All-road bikes are designed to ride comfortably over any surface. In the USA and increasingly in other parts of the world, long-distance races on unpaved (often gravel) roads are popular.
The geometry of the all-road / gravel road bike is similar to a cyclocross bike, but with a lower bottom bracket and a longer wheelbase for enhanced long-distance stability. These bikes are marketed as the incredibly versatile cousins of the Cyclocross bike, and for beginner riders who aren't sure what sort of cycling they are going to be doing on their new bike, they are often ideal.
All-road bikes can be used for touring, commuting, sportives, audax, cyclocross races and more just by changing the tyres to suit the conditions. It is worth noting, however, that an all-road bike is a jack of all trades and a master of one (gravel road racing), which is not popular in the UK.
